$3,682.73 raised as of December 31, 2006 for the bedridden children project.
Children who were just laying in bed are now sitting up and moving around... and some are getting out of bed. This happened due to extra food and an adult visiting them and providing individual attention. The orphanage director (Alexander) was very excited by the results.
George is a Life2Orphan volunteer in Ukraine. Here is an email from him about the success of this project. He sent this email to Megan Fordenbacher the president of the Life2Orphan charity.
Dear Megan!
And Alexander confirmed, that he is waiting for you in May,as you have to look by your own eyes on the great changings - local officers are telling him:"Now we know, where to invite any comissions for showing good job!" Alexander even made proposal, that you would able to make video of the bedridden children's success for printing disc and sharing it! So,we have to collaborate all our common efforts for your trip would be successful!
George.
Imagine being bedridden 24 hours a day, 365.25 days of the year, your whole life until you die. Confined to a room with no way to view or participate in the world. With nothing to do all day except stare at the walls and roof. The months, weeks, days, hours, minutes and seconds stretch into an eternity.
This is the fate of 40 children in a Ukraine orphanage. These bedridden orphans are divided into two rooms of 20 children each.Transform a life by contributing $10 a month. This will help pay for supplementary feeding, extra caregivers, and upgrade the environment (toys, feeding equipment etc).
